Battle Report by Damon Orrell
This a bit long and excuse the bad grammar.
Well here is an update from last night. Once again all we used were
foot troops, no vehicles of any sort.
I had the following:
1 Cannoness (combi weapon: melta/boltgun)
5 Celestian body guard (flamer and banner bearer)
Vindicare Assassin (sack of crap took 4 shots and had no kills)
7 Seraphim (VSS w/ power weapon, 1 hand flamers)
7 Battle Sisters (VSS w/ power weapon, melta gun, heavy flamer)
5 Retributors (3 Multi-meltas, 1 heavy bolter)
He had:
1 Commander in terminator armor
5 terminators (3 storm bolters, 2 assault cannons)
5 assault marines (Vet Sergeant w/ power weapon; jump packs, 3 bolt
pistols, 2 plasma pistols)
10 (I believe there was that many) marine tactical squad, veterans (1
heavy bolter)

I set up with Battle sisters in front, directly behind them Cannoness
and body guard and behind the Cannoness the retributor squad. The
seraphim where set up on the left flank
Turn 1
SISTERS: I moved, fired with assassin; no kill
MARINES: He moves, no fire
Turn 2
SISTERS: I moved (dumb), fired with the assassin; no kill (dick!)
MARINES: He moves. He kills 2 seraphim on the flank with his tactical
squad. His assault squad and terminators kill 2 Battle sisters. The
girls hold their ground! Then his assault marines assault and kill 2
more battle sisters, they hold stand fast. They return the favor and
manage to kill...1.
Turn 3
SISTERS: I move the seraphim in next to his tac squad. The others
stand fast. My turn to fire :-) I kill off 3 of his assault squad with
fire. The assassin fires, hits....no kill! The 5 remaining seraphim
fire and kill 5 marines from his tac squad! I assault his last assault
marine and take him out, in the process my battle sister VSS dies. My
seraphim assault and he kills off 2, I kill none and fallback.
MARINES: He holds (mistake, his terminators stay out about 10 inches
from my main force). Fires with his tac squad and
drops one more seraphim. His marines fire, hit with 5 or so shots...I
make all my saves :-)
Turn 4
SISTERS: Seraphim continues to fall back. I hold and fire at his
terminators. Ouch, 2 fall from Melta fire and one from the hail of
bolter fire. The assassin fires, hits....not kill!
MARINES: His tac squad fires and does not take out any more seraphim.
His terminators fire, score some hits and I make all my saves.
TURN 5
SISTERS: The seraphim stop fleeing. The main force opens up again and
kill 2 more termies (quote: "@##@, those melta weapons suck!") The
assassin continues his current trend.
MARINES: His tac squad fires and puts the last 2 seraphim out of their
misery. The main force opens up and blow his commander to bits.
END OF GAME
My assassin commits ritual suicide.
Well there are details I left out, but for the most part I was
pleasantly surprised at the punch the Sisters have. The marines won't
make the mistake trying to have a shoot out with the sisters again, I
know it will be a bit different with vehicles at his disposal.
Things that really helped me out was having the banner bearer, the +1
really made a difference. The retributor squad is damn
nasty...obviously a real giant killer. The seraphim did good job of
tying up his tac squad and keeping them occupied, allowing me to
concentrate on the more valuable troops.
