Terrain wasn't much; a tower in the corner of my deployment zone nearest the middle of
the table, with a building in the Orks deployment zone ( the other
terrain  played no part in the battle).  Three squig katapults hid
behind the building, while the ork army deployed in front of it, as far
forward as possible.  Two dreads, three wartraks, five bikers, a trukk
mob, a warlord and nobz in a trukk and three substantial boyz mobz.  I
deployed a squad of retributors atop the tower, with celestians at the
base.  On either side stood a sisters squad, trying to draw a bead on
the dreadnoughts with their multimeltas.  One seraphim squad deployed
behind the retributors, waiting for an opportunity to dive down and
deliver a counter-attack, while the other was mounted in an immolator on
the right hand side of the tower, shielded from the orks.  On the left,
the command immolator (with full complement of canoness and bodyguards)
deployed behind the rhino carrying a second celestian squad and
confessor.  Behind these waited the second retributor squad.  The orks
won the first turn, allowing them to pounce upon the innocent warriors
of the sisterhood with their inhuman cunnin'...
The Orks swept forward on every front, save for the Squig Katapults, who
sensibly hid behind a building.  The twenty rokkit launchers (!) opened
fire, accompanied by the rattle of the bikers' big shootas.  Five
sisters fell, along with two Retributors, toppling from the tower to the
unfriendly ground.  Finally, the sisters heard screeching rend the air,
and several hideous alien beasts began raining from the skies.
Protected by their sturdy power armour, the sisters could only gasp as
the gunner of the command immolator was eaten, and the tracks of the
rhino were devoured by a ravenous squig.  The battle had begun.
Undaunted, the sisters held position, save for the seraphim and
immolators, who all swept around the right flank to stop the warbikes
rampaging unchecked.  The retributors on the ground, finding their view
blocked by the immobilised rhino, shouldered their heavy bolters and
scurried to a better firing position.  Then the other retributors fired,
their target the warboss' trukk.  Despite the protection of its kustom
force feeld, the trukk had its wheels blown off, weapon destroyed and
krew stunned, keeping the monstrous nobz at bay for at least one more
turn.  The second trukk found itself the target of the celestians, who
opened fire through the vision slits in the rhino.  Bolter shells tore
into the fuel tanks, and only five orks managed to scramble from the
blazing inferno.  The multi-melta armed sisters managed to disgrace
themselves by missing altogether the huge clanking ork dredz.  The
seraphim yelled their battle cries and jumped into the midst of the ork
boyz and bikerz.  With a mixture of close range shooting and close
combat, the warbikes were destroyed and one ork mob reduced to four
boyz, for the loss of only two seraphim.  The aliens fourght on with the
strength of daemons, and so both of the elite sister squads consolidated
in to finish them off.
The warlord's bellows of rage from his broken buggy stirred the orks
into action.  They swept forward once more, and again the rokkits
darkened the sky.  The immolator that the seraphim had only just
disembarked from erupted into a column of flame, the blazing wreck
spinning around to face the way it had come.  The retributors upon the
tower were mercilessly gunned down by the dreadnoughts, leaving only
Sister Superior Natalya and one of her sistren alive.  Yet they swore
that they would not give up, and remained steady.  More squigs descended
upon one of the battle sister squads, and two sisters were eaten alive,
despite their comrades' best attempts to drag the mutant monstrosities
off.  The wartraks hanging around towards the rear of the Ork lines
concentrated on the celestians in the base of the tower, and their
efforts were rewarded when a sister was blown apart by a rokkit.  With a
loud "WAAAAGH!!" a second boyz mob threw themselves into the fray
against the seraphim.  Four orks fell, followed swiftly by three
sisters, but then the nobz raised their big choppas and despatched the
survivors, before consolidating toward the tower, leaving broken human
bodies in their wake.
Then the immolator swept around the tower, disgorging its precious
cargo.  Canoness Phobos was determined to bring vengeance upon the orks
who had slain her sisters, and she was soon joined by the celestians, so
eager to purge the foe that they left the relative safety of the tower.
The Confessor's bodyguard finally decided to get out of their broken
rhino, and advanced towards the survivors of the trukka mob, hymns of
hatred upon their lips.  Then the cleansing flames were unleashed,
accompanied by the thunder of heavy bolter fire.  The screams of dying
orks rang out, and when the bodies had stopped smoking only one trukka
and one boy remained, where once there had been two full mobs and the
remains of two others.  Not wishing to join their comrades fate, these
two pegged it as fast as they could.  The melta armed sisters
desperately tried to stop the rampaging dreadnoughts, who were getting
dangerously close to the celestians.  One dreadnought was reduced to
slag, but the other escaped destruction, its power claws slicing through
the air as it continued on its relentless course...
But then it suddenly stopped, turned its back and hared off the way it
had come.  The Ork warlord, having finally pulled himself from his
trukk, growled the order to withdraw.  He could afford to lose no more
boyz today, just to claim a few patches of barren land.  Next time he'd
have to bring a few grots...
Yes, that's right folks, Neil quit the game after my second turn!  It
was quite obvious that the orks didn't stand a chance (he said).  So it
ends with a victory for the sisterhood!  However, my seraphim have yet
to survive a game...
